A theme of geography is one of 5 themes that shows a certain characteristic about a certain location.
1st theme: Location
There are two sub themes with location, Absolute and relative location. Absolute location is using the address, latitude and longitude coordinated, or a grid reference off of a map.
This picture shows the name of the road: Potsdamer Straße 54. If you would enter Potsdamer Straße 54 in a Satellite Navigation system you would go right to the spot where I took the picture.
The second sub theme of location is relative location. Relative location is using other locations to show the location of the subject. For example Italy is south of Africa and north of Switzerland.
The second sub theme of location is relative location. Relative location is using other locations to show the location of the subject. For example Italy is south of Africa and north of Switzerland.
This image of me and a map shows an online version of central europe. This map shows relative location because it shows that Berlin is north of Prague and south of Denmark. This is very broad, although relative locations can be very broad.
2nd theme of geography: Place
Every location in the world has its own special sets of characteristics which makes it unique, so what is Berlins?
The first sub theme of place is the people. Berlin is like the centre of the world in some ways, because of how many religions are present in Berlin and by how international Berlin has become over the years. This picture shows just one of the many religions being practiced in Berlin. The protestants are present in Berlin and have a church in Zehlendorf.
This picture shows one of many trees in Berlin. This tree is called a Birch tree and is found in northern europe. Its wood is considered to be one of the strongest out of its spicies.
3nd theme: Movement
The second theme movement, is about how to the movement of ideas, goods and people.
In Berlin, there is a lot of public transport and private transport.
In Berlin, there is a lot of public transport and private transport.
Both these images show the movement of people in two ways. The first way using public transport such as the bus service, the U-Bahn, or the S-Bahn. The second way is via private vehicle. The second image could also show movement of goods because when people purchase goods they have to transport the goods to a certain location.
These pictures show how how humans are connected to share and entertain the idea of the movement of ideas. The arab spring was brought to the attention of the world via a twitter post to all of the major news agencies. Social media and the internet are a nonstop method of transferring ideas to one and other. This also gives us ways to stay in touch with each other.
4th theme of geography: Human ENVIRONMENT interaction
The Human Environment interaction is how have the humans adapted to live in a certain location, how have they adapted to the climate and weather, how have they used technology to extract the globes resources.
My house in Kleinmachnow has been designed with bad winter weather in mind, The roof is slanted at a 130° to protect from snow accumulation, of course there is always the risk of ice forming on the roof. Thats is why the roof is slanted, so that there is as little weight possible on the roof when there is ice.
5th theme of geography: REGIONS
A reigion is an area that has borders, which has common characteristics.
A formal area is an area with limited number of related characteristics; area with defined space, a border.
A formal area is an area with limited number of related characteristics; area with defined space, a border.
This picture shows a formal region because it shows a defined space. In this case, the defined space shows the gates around the school, the sign shows that the area inside the gate is a private campus and belongs to BBIS.
This picture shows a formal region because there Germany is part of the EU. Above the D which represents Deutschland, above the D there is a ring of stars, which represents the symbol of the 28 EU states.
